Honey Bees

Today we watched 'In a Beehive: Honey bees'. These are the new facts we learned about bees:

  • Bees don't talk they communicate by dancing.
  • They stir up the nectar to make it into honey.
  • Bees always work hard to get lots and lots of honey. Bee keepers make sure they leave enough for the bees for the winter and for the baby bees.
  • They share honey with their tongues.
  • It takes 100 bees to collect enough honey to make one piece of honey toast.
  • They fan the honey to make it thick which makes it into honey they then stir the honey.
  • Bees chase after bears to keep them away from the hive to protect the honey and babies.
  • Bees can't collect nectar and pollen for honey in the winter. This is when they eat the honey they have collected and stored.
Room 3, you are amazing scientists!!! These are great bee facts.
