Room 3 went on an amazing bee adventure to Comvita. Some of Room 3 thought our bus would turn into a bumble bee just like on the Magic School Bus. Here are some photos from our trip.

Honey Bees
Today we watched 'In a Beehive: Honey bees'. These are the new facts we learned about bees:
- Bees don't talk they communicate by dancing.
- They stir up the nectar to make it into honey.
- Bees always work hard to get lots and lots of honey. Bee keepers make sure they leave enough for the bees for the winter and for the baby bees.
- They share honey with their tongues.
- It takes 100 bees to collect enough honey to make one piece of honey toast.
- They fan the honey to make it thick which makes it into honey they then stir the honey.
- Bees chase after bears to keep them away from the hive to protect the honey and babies.
- Bees can't collect nectar and pollen for honey in the winter. This is when they eat the honey they have collected and stored.
Honeycomb
Whaea Melanie has a beehive at her house. She very kindly brought to school a honey comb for us to see, touch and smell. It smelt of sweet honey. You could see the hexagon cells. Bees are amazing insects.
Go 4 It
This term we have been lucky enough to do Go 4 it. This is a physical education programme. These sessions focus on our fundamental movement skills. Many of the games involve team work and co-operation.
